Located on eminent King William Road, this internal renovation and addition to a 1900s heritage villa carefully weaves old and new through considered spatial planning and material selection — reflecting the client’s contemporary style.

Designed to function both as a display space and office for a custom home builder, as well as a family home for three, the brief required layered thinking. Retaining the existing swimming pool added further complexity, demanding clever planning to keep the addition within site constraints. A distinct kitchen pod and butler’s pantry, integrated entertainment storage, and a hardworking mudroom/laundry were all seamlessly incorporated into the footprint.

A large stacking slider and built-in window seat frame views to the pool, strengthening the connection between indoors and out while creating a light-filled reading nook. The lighting strategy avoids ceiling downlights, instead relying on wall uplighting and joinery-integrated strip lighting to establish a calm, moody atmosphere.

Meticulous documentation and close collaboration with our in-house construction team ensured a smooth build process. Through proactive problem-solving and detailed pre-planning, the project was delivered to a high standard — on time and on budget — with a result that balances architectural integrity and contemporary living.
